Travel Training

Travel Training is a short term personalised service, that assists people to use public transport options and travel independently in the community.

Community Transport’s Travel Training program  ceased in December 2020. Although this program is no longer be available, there are other funding supports available for people requiring assistance with accessing public transport, for example:

  • The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), fund travel for daily living support for participants;
  • My Aged Care offers orientation and mobility training through Guide Dogs and Vision Australia, which may include the use of public transport;
  • The Department of Education also provides information and resources to parents as part of the Assisted School Travel Program.

Transport for NSW has made the interactive tool “First Stop” used by service providers, available for everyone to use and can be accessed from the following link:

You can also access a Travel Training workbook here
