Who we are

Community Transport: Wollongong- Shellharbour (CTWS) assists people who have difficulty accessing private and public transport by offering affordable and reliable transport options to eligible community groups and individuals within the Wollongong and Shellharbour Council areas. CTWS is a service of Wollongong City Council and is supported by a team of dedicated volunteer drivers and support people.

We can provide transport in a number of accessible vehicle to assist you to your medical and hospital appointments. We also offer transport to other destinations for social and recreational activities such as visiting or shopping.

Preference will always be given to people attending health related appointments.

A Community Transport vehicle will pick you up from your home address and return you after your appointment. One way trips are also possible to or from your destination.

Transport is usually local on one of our vehicles, but we can take you to appointments in other major centres, including Sydney.

Transport by car is available to people that due to medical reasons cannot use a bus or van for transport.

It may always not be possible to provide transport because of vehicle ability and demand. To assist us with meeting your transport needs we request that bookings are made:

  • atleast a week in advance
  • and no more than 1 month in advance.

In order to provide transport to as many people as possible at busy times vehicles may be shared and there may be multiple drop-offs and pick-ups.

You must be able to get into and out of the vehicle with limited assistance. Some of our buses and vans are equipped with a lifter, safety steps and handrails for those who have difficulty with steps.

Community Transport: Wollongong- Shellharbour is provided by Wollongong City Council under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and the Community Transport Program (CTP).
