Community Transport: Wollongong - Shellharbour

Aboriginal Transport Assistance

We recognise that safe and reliable transport is vital to the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We can provide a range of services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in our region, helping you get to appointments and events, and stay connected in the community. This can include:

Individual transport to and from appointments, errands, shopping and visits
Group transport and outings
Subsidised taxi travel
Help when you need to travel out-of-area, such as family and medical visits, weddings, or 'Sorry Business'.

Getting started

If you live between Austinmer and Dunmore and have difficulties accessing safe private or public transport because of your age, or your financial, geographic, cultural or social circumstances, please call us on 1300 987 422 between 8am and 4.30pm weekdays.

We will ask you a few questions about your circumstances. This involves asking about your ability to get around, whether or not you’ll need assistance from your home and getting into a vehicle, your emergency contact details and other circumstances.  This will help us to determine how we can best serve you.

If you are over 50 years of age

We encourage you to apply for a referral for Community Transport services through My Aged Care. You can either call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422, or you can apply for an Aged Care assessment online via the My Aged Care website. Have your Medicare card ready and expect the application to take around 20 minutes.

You can also use the button below to contact us and ask any questions, and one of our friendly team will get back to you.
