Community Transport: Wollongong - Shellharbour

Volunteer With Us

Volunteering your time to help other people is one of the most fulfilling things you can do.

Wollongong City Council’s Community Transport services help people in our community stay independent, connected and involved.

If you’re interested in building compassionate and rewarding relationships, and have time to commit on a regular basis, we would love to hear from you.

As a volunteer, you’ll be a valued part of our team. Our staff are here to support and guide you every step of the way, and keep you updated with training and information.

Volunteer roles available

Ongoing support, training and volunteer meetings are provided for all positions. Volunteers are reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses including fuel, tolls and meal allowances.

All of our Community Transport volunteers require a Police Check, which we arrange at no cost to you. There may also be other checks that are required before you volunteer with us.

Drive one of our 22-25-seater buses to transport a community group. An LR (Light Rigid) licence or higher is required to drive these vehicles.

Drive one of our 12-seater vehicles transporting people to medical appointments and small group activities.

Use your own car to help people get out and about. Please note that your vehicle must be comprehensively insured.

Enjoy meeting  and talking to people? Our Bus Support volunteers help people get on and off the bus as needed.

Help people with shopping or daily tasks, or simply spend some time socialising and chatting.

Be part of a team making a real difference in people's lives
